Yay!!! I finally finished The Black Magician Trilogy....
Ever since I read David Edding's books, I'm hooked onto fantasy books. Especially when they have magicians in them. Makes a good read and encourage active imagination. It's kinda like reading medieval stories with more flare.
Anyway, the story is basically about this slum girl named Sonea whose power manifested on its own, making her more powerful than the average Guild magicians. First, she was thought to be a threat to the Guild before they allowed her to enter the Guild, making her the first from the slums to enter the Guild. The last two books then involves her in plots that connects her to Akkarin, her guardian/lover and the Ichanis, powerful and dangerous magicians that practice black magic.
Lol. The way I summarise it just made it sound so uninteresting. But it really is. Except in book 1 when Sonea was busy running away (which was basically 2/3 of the book. The only reprieve was her best friend Cery). Rothen got really whiny and boring in the last one. But Akkarin remained an enigma in the last 2 since he wasn't really all that important in the first book.
All in all, it's a pretty good fantasy series. Definitely worth re-reading. At least twice more. Though I would probably skip book 1 if I ever re-read it. That book is more like a background story to lay the foundation of the Imardin. Akkarin shall forever remain my favourite character in this series. Nothing is going to change that. Not even Lord Dannyl. No matter how adorable he is xD
